Mr. Davidson's leadership roles at both futures and equities clearinghouses and global intermediaries makes him uniquely qualified to teach courses on clearing. He was head of CME Clearing House for 10 years and served as Managing Director and Chief Corporate Development Officer of CME Group from 2006-2008. During his tenure at CME Clearing House, he led the organization through the 1987 stock market crash and implemented significant enhancements to its financial safeguards system. He also was instrumental in developing and implementing the Standardized Portfolio Analysis of Risk (CME SPAN) margining system as well as the Globex Control Center.
Mr. Davidson joined the Options Clearing Corporation in 2017 as president and chief operating officer and was named CEO in 2019. He led the organization through a period of dramatic growth, characterized by bursts of unprecedented market volatility.
In addition to positions at futures and equities clearinghouses, Mr. Davidson has also held senior leadership positions at global brokerage firms. He served as Citigroup’s Head of Enterprise Risk Management and Chief Compliance Officer. During his tenure at Morgan Stanley, he served as Managing Director & Operations Officer for the firm’s Global Operations and Services Division.
John earned an M.B.A. in financial management and international business from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Illinois-Urbana. He also is a member of the FIA Futures Hall of Fame, which recognizes the outstanding contributions of members of the listed and cleared derivatives community.
